I attended the Nest launch party for the new issue, and while there, thought about the location and curation of the exhibit. Hyde Park Book Club is a good spot because its very close to everyone and has a bar, in the downstairs exhibition space, there is a lot of wall space to put pictures up, and they had a projector up which I thought might be cool for our exhibition.
The main thing I thought about was atmosphere of the downstairs exhibition rooms. Thinking a bit more about curation of Archive 41 and how the event should feel, if it were to be in the basement room of Hyde Park Book Club, we could achieve a dark, eerie space feel with the correct lighting and setup. I think it’s important to think about the atmosphere of the exhibit; we could just have some music on and have everyone chatting, but actually, I like this idea of making it feel like space, almost like you’re on the voyager ship. The music that was put on the original golden record was mostly classical music with some quite avant garde pieces, this would create quite a good vibe for the exhibit.
