After some really low attendance from the majority of my team, I decided to throw caution to the wind and just change our idea. The guerrilla postering wasn’t getting anywhere and people were just arguing over where we should put up the posters and that they just wanted to stick them up anywhere and risk it.
I really liked the idea that we did for the Apollo Project workshop pitch, so I changed it to that. I Came up with the name ‘Warp Speed Press’ and did some logo designs:
I then started doing some research on the golden record to really get informed on it, seeing as our idea is based on it. The Voyager Golden Records are two vinyl records that were launched into space aboard both the Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 spacecrafts in 1977. The records contain sounds and images selected to convey the life and understanding humans have life on Earth. The records are a 'bottle' in the cosmic 'ocean' which only a space-faring civilisation could find. In hopes that any extraterrestrial life may make contact with the spacecraft, the subjects were communicated in their purest form taking into account shape, size and colour.
I liked the idea of almost pretending there was another golden record and thats what people were submitting work for as its quite a clear way of communicating the idea.
I looked at the original images which were on the golden record; they range from mathematical equations and diagrams which try to explain fundamentals about earth and biological life to more mundane images of everyday life. Will there be any limitations or rules on peoples submissions? Or will people choose what they think is most important to show about earth?
