2 level 6 students came in and gave us a quick brief to generate ideas for our pitches. We were given a word which we had to create an event around - our word we were given was vacuum. We started looking at connotations of the word and decided it applied to space well. We then started researching the golden record, a record which was launched in to space which had images and music on that represented earth, so that if an alien race where to see them, it would communicate our planet as simply as possible.
We created an idea for an event where people would have to submit images or posters which represent earth similarly to the golden record. I liked this idea because the sci-fi space theme is quite interesting and a cool aesthetic to utilise, also its interesting to consider what people would submit and what they think its important to communicate about earth. I did some mock up posters which demonstrate what the work might look like, taking more of a comical approach.
Ultimately our pitch actually one, with the level 6 students deciding they liked it the best. I really like this idea and think it would be interesting to take forward for the actual pitch.
